Soapstone, masterfully. We love soapstone for its natural beauty, the fact that it needs no toxic sealer, and because can be sourced locally. But we’ve rarely seen it crafted with such care. Can you spot the plugs in this fireplace surround? Because of their heft, these soapstone pieces required mechanically fastening into the framing behind. Hence the practically invisible plugs.
